risk assessment
the possible risks that we may come across are things such as the possibility of losing important camera equipment or the actual camera due to miss placing the actual equipment on the public transport we will be taking to go to our chosen location to record the film. this will us to having issues recording the film and will delay the making of the film. this could be prevented by monitoring where we place the equipment and making sure we have everything we need at all times when travelling to different locations.
another risk is that we could possibly slip or trip whilst making the film due to the fact there are many scenes where we are outdoors during late times therefore it will be dark and there is a possible chance it could rain therefore the outdoors will be wet which means we could slip and injure our selves which then means there will be a delay in making the film. this could be prevented by observing the state of the outdoors and making sure we record at a suitable time so it is safe for us to record our film.
another risk is that we could possibly get robbed for our camera equipment due to the fact we will be visiting many locations at late times therefore there could be a chance we may come across people with bad intentions of robbing us for what we currently are in possession of. this could be prevented by observing our surroundings at all times and making sure the locations we will be going to are safe and well known to our understanding.

the core target audience for the film 'Mission 3' will be mostly males of the age 14- 25. however the film could still appeal to females due to certain scenes that consists such as romantic scenes.
audience profile of a typical audience member - Jack Allen who lives in Camden is aged 17 years and is a male who has interests in the TV Series 'Power' and 'Narcos', and is a big fan of the fast and furious franchise. Jack is a student at his local collage and studies Art, Drama and Dance. our wider target audience is mainly males 14 and above. the reason to this is because the concept of the film and the story line is most intriguing to them due to the content within the film such as action packed films, futuristic technology and weapons. from our research we have concluded that action films are proffered by males of the age 14 and above. the typical content within action films are things such as fight scenes, futuristic technology therefore it was necessary to include this into our film.
we will be attracting our target audience through the use of social media due to the fact it is proven that teenagers are who use and interact with social media sites the most therefore it will be easier to use platforms such as twitter and iinstagram to promote the film as it will be fast and easy to access the film through this.

the film
the title of our film is 'Mission 3'
the film is about a secret agent who works for M.I.5 who needs to recruit three young individuals in order to complete a set mission which is called 'mission 3'. the three young individuals have a certain set of skills which is beneficial towards the mission. one of the boys is a professional hacker and is highly intelligent. the other boy is a highly skilled virtual thief and a world class fraudster. the last boy is highly skilled boxer and has incredible strength. the three individuals are set out to participate in the mission which is to help take down a group of villains who want to take over the u.k.
The opening title sequence consists of the main agent identifying and analyzing his chosen 3 recruits for the mission. using different shot angles, each scene will follow up on the ordinary lives of the 3 individuals. the first part to the title sequence will be the main agent looking over the information for the first recruit and using a close up shot, the camera angle zooms into the firsts recruits face and then goes into a scene where he is in his living room watching tv as a representation of his day to day life.
from here the camera angle slowly moves up towards the ceiling which then goes to a scene where it shows the second recruit on his computer hacking into an online server. this will be shown via an over the shoulder shot which then slowly zooms into the computer screen which then goes into a scene where it shows the third recruit working on his fighting skills in a secret underground location.

Mise-en-scene - Location&Setting
We decided to produce majority of the short film in Maiden Lane, Camden Town as the lightening there is preferably the most suitable for the scenes were going to record. Also it has plenty tunnels and swift corners that could effectively fit in well with what we've got planned.
What genre (or sub-genre) of film is it
The genre we decided to do is Action. The reason for choosing this genre is because it was most preferred by our target audience which was shown by the BFI statistics. Kingsman: The Secret Service was a film which really managed to grab our attention and it made it pretty easy for us to choose Action as our genre, we also have a very similar film that we want to create. Another film that helped us become more comfortable with what were going to do was Mission Impossible III. This was a big film that helped us create a broad range of ideas that we decided to put forward for our upcoming film.
Football Pitch Location: Clear view
Planning Task : Location and settings
To get a brief idea of what locations would be good for an action/thriller movie , I took a walk around my estate and found that it had really amazing lighting in alley ways and corners which is something that we needed.
Good for running scenes and scenes with big proxemics.

Planning Costume: Task 3 Zero Budget
These are some of the costumes that we will use for our title sequence.
Thee picture on the top left is a suit and tie for the Boss, the photo on the right is of the shoes we will use, three of them are suitable for running, sports and training and the formal shoes are for the Boss. This can communicate that not everyone is for dangerous work like the agents will be carrying out. The contrast on the quality of the shoes shows which characters are tough.
Planning your production; Task 2 Costumes
The characters name is Meek and is from Camden , their role in the title sequence is that they will be the first character to get a call from the boss, asking them to do a mission for MI5.
My character has potential to be a hero if he completes his training and becomes a field agent.
I don't think they would be apart of a subculture or particular group apart from his team members that he has recently met. The costumes are black as that is the most used colour for action movies and symbolises professionalism.
researching into existing distribution companies
kingsman: the secret service
distributed by '20th Century Fox'
the marketing tools used to distribute the film were social media, TV adverts, billboards and posters.
the film had a wide release as it was shown in many cinemas.

Micro/ Marco Analysis
Micro analysis on Deadpool :
• camera (shot distance/ angles/ movements/ framing) = a wide range of hots were used with the opening title sequence but mainly close ups and mid shots were used in order to capture the atmosphere and detail within the imagery. the shots that were used were in a still frame.
• mise en scène (location/ setting/costume/ make up/ props/ performances & lighting) -the opening title sequence was set on a highway where there is an act of conflict going on between the villains and hero. the main character differentiates from the villains due to the costume he is in and his position in the scene. the props used were guns which belongs to the villains, this helps separate the villain from the hero. the villains were in a typical state which is a non attractive and unpleasant state and were also clearly hurt due to the conflict they were in.
• editing (cuts/ speed/ special effects/ transitions) -the actions within the scenery were moving in slow motion in order to emphasise the content and actions within the scenery and to give the audience a good understating on whats going on.
• sound (musical score/ sound effects/ wild sound. Foley sound)- the opening title sequence consisted of classical music which was is not usual with action films therefore it cross breeds with other genres.
Ideas for soundscapes
My idea for the soundscapes is to use ones that reflect the scene and the storyline. The type of soundscapes we want in our title sequences is , for example thunderstorm crackling, or a busy city centre soundscape which will hold all the key elements of sound for our title piece.

Brand Your Blog
I have changed our blog into a dark themed one due to the fact that action movies are usually full of intense fighting and violence and I thought the colour black reflected this. This is a very big contrast in comparison to the colour of our old blog which was red , white and green. I'm a lot more happy with this style. I have changed all the fonts on the page into 'Courier' which I thought was a lot more appropriate due to the fact that it Is a lot more bold and clear cut, for example if the letters were circular and round , it could be said to be soft whereas if the text is clear cut and edgy then
it can easily be connoted with a horror film.
Initial Creative Ideas for film
Our movie Mission Three is an Action film and will consist of three agents who are being trained and tested in order to know if they are good enough to take on a Mission.
Setting: Our initial idea was to film this somewhere appropriate for agents to be hanging around which is an office or organization building. Our characters are apart of MI5 so its only appropriate that we use an office or the outside of an office to film. Our location will vary from the offices to an alley way for action packed scenes.
Lighting: Our lighting will consist of mainly low amounts of lighting , just the right amount so the audience can see properly, the reason behind this is that if the lighting is low, the film will become a lot more intriguing, due to the audience wanting to know what is happening and will have to pay more attention to catch the finer detail.
Costume: Our costume will vary from sports wear e.g training clothes to high quality suits and garments, this is because our characters will be training on screen and fighting in the other scenes.
Camera: We want to use a multitude of camera angles to make this title sequence really experimental and different. We will be including all types of shots from long shots, extreme long shots, establishing shots and new camera angles that we may find while using the camera equipment.
Props: We will be using things like knifes and guns to replicate training on screen, we will also be using mobile phones and books.

Analyse sound in two previous student title sequences
First of all , the title sequence I am analysing is of my favourite in comparison to the all of the other previous student titles sequences, is called Emily.
The sound in the film title sequences starts off with just the diegetic sound of the film, ususal crowd talking and buses driving past. This slowly transitions into calm and soothing music which reflects what is taking place on the screen, its all peaceful and non violent things.
Towards the second part of the title sequence, the real plot unfolds and the calming music hits a crescendo and silences. This is replaced with eerie music and long pauses of silence. The music continues to build and footsteps of a character begin to get louder and louder until it comes to a halt. The titlte sequences ends with sounds of a girl choking to death and the eerie music continues to play and fades out.
The second title sequence I am analysing is:
This title sequence is really good due to the use of sound. In this film sequence, there is a constant heart beat in the background which continues and is later replaced with a thriller type of music, and this music has spoken words over it, definitely a pre made voice of distorted voices trying to say something, this transitions into speech from the character and turns into a dialogue between an unknown voice which is not originating from within the scene. The title sequence turns pitched black and there are sounds of duck tape being unravelled, this is effective due to the fact that sometimes hearing something can paint a picture a lot more than an image can..
First of all the title seuqences starts of with the
Ideal Target Audience Profile
My Target audience for our Action movie is young adult and male with interests in action, thrills and excitement. This is due to the fact that many other men go and see action films in the cinema and they usually contain things that are seen as masculine like fighting, car chases and gun fights.
My Audience will mainly be from the working and middle class , due to the fact that middle class people can easily go and see a movie at the cinema without a problem and the working class too.
Action films are usually associated with the age groups of 15-40 and the reason that many people watch this genre of film is due to escapism or simply just to take a break and watch something with a plot.
My target audience are people who would watch the film because something appeals to them weather it be action, comedy or the idea of escaping reality for a while.
Interests: Sports, Gaming, Technology and Fitness
Age : 15-40
Background: Working/Middle Class

Which studio/instituiton will distribute your film?
The type of film distributors that could produce and distribute our film includes Paramount Pictures and SkyDance Productions and this is due to the fact that they have produced Action movies like our film, Mission Three.
Tom Cruise:
Jack Reacher Never go back is one of the action movies recently produced by
paramount pictures and this slowly resembles our film ideas due to the violence and the action in this film.
Release date: 21st October 2016
Another example of a movie distributed by Paramount or Skydance that is of the same genres as our movie is, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation
Release date: 15 December 2015

I think that the distribution company paramount would consider producing and distributing our movie due to the fact that it has all the same features as other Action movies distributed by them, it has potential of containing many thrilling and action packed moments.

LOGO
We had created our ident using a editing software on the apple IMAC, we had tried to come up with one that unique however simple colours and design and has a cling to our film.
My Heisenberg Ident
First of all, I went online to a website called Online Logo Maker and this is the tool I used to create the image of my Heisenberg logo. Secondly I used special software called Adobe after effects to load my logo onto and I selected my own pre-made ident template, furthermore I had to encode my indent and load it into my blog. I would say that this task was very straight forward without any difficulties using the software.
Feedback from teacher
I was not present for the lessons leading up to this assessment, I have now caught up and completed the majority of blogposts i am required to complete and am slowly starting to move on to the planning section of the blogging. Three Blog posts is not enough to be assessed so i understand the reason for putting a U grade, this will change.

Genre Conventions
The definition of a genre convention:
Genre conventions are all the little parts of the genre such as character similarities and repeated plots that allow us to distinguish between the genres. Most genres have elements that the audience expects as they have been used many times in previous films from their genre/sub genre.
Examples are:
Horror conventions, the conventions of a film in the horror genre are
Either a dark isolated setting e.g forest, abandoned home
Disturbing, low pithed sounds to create tension and suspense
Dark colours
Death/ supernatural dark plots
Fast pace editing
Vulnerable character
Zombie land Film:
This sub genre combines elements of horror and comedy
Genre is able to make you laugh in one scene and scare you in the next
In this sub genre there is normally a clumsy and funny character who is the centre of the comedy film.

Editing: There is a heavy use of computer generated images in this movie due to Deadpool fight scenes and anything that involves him using abnormal abilities.
Previous student work analysis
From what I can tell, the title sequence shows the genre is obviously horror due to the ominous music and the build up of sound. This is my favourite previous student work that is on blogger due to the amount of tension and suspense created in the first half of the title sequence. The music is really loud and builds up throughout the sequence. The use of cutting a scene quicker than everything on screen is finished adds effectiveness as it makes the audience want to know what happened after the screen blacked out.
The type of title sequence that this is , is discrete due to the heavily edited scenes and music. This all adds up to explain to general gist of the film.
Analyse the use of sound in a film opening
The sound shown here in the title sequence is of an unusual asynchronous sound creating a confusing and intriguing atmosphere which is engaging towards the audience.
The sound throughout the title sequence and the backing track is unrecognizable sound which helps support and emphasize the mystery within the thriller
Music is constantly changing the pitch while still keeping the same volume. This is effective for the audience as it can connect with various images showing, yet still not making it distracting for the audience.
Background sound increases slightly and the tempo has too, this helps the title sequence flow into the movie with a climax.
Music begins to have dark lyrics towards the end and the sound changes and fades into diegetic sound.
What Is Genre?
A Genre is a type of film. having a genre helps categorize the film.
Sub genre: The sub division of the genre in the film.
Hybrid genre: When there is more then one genre present in a film. An example of this is that a film follows the action genre but will consist of comedy and other genres.
The codes and convention: This is what we would expect to see in a film. An example is that in an action movie you would expect weapons, technology, protagonist and antagonist and high tempo background music.
Genre tropes: Story elements.
Genre tropes in action:
- Guns
- Villains
- Violence and Conflict
- Gadgets
- Cars
- Technology
- CGI
- Elements of time travel and space
- heroes/ villains
Genre tropes in Romance:
- Relationships
- Love
- Fall outs
Favourite Film Title sequence analysis
The type of title sequence it uses is a discrete title sequence due to the many bits of animation which were created, this title sequence heavily relies on editing. The title sequence of Skyfall sets the mood for the rest of the film due to the sound , editing and cinematography and mise en scene. It includes a professional feel to the characters for wearing smart clothing whilst being surrounded by graves, weapons and blood. The music by Adele sets a suspense mood, the editing and cinematography is done to foreshadow the general plot/narrative of the movie.

3 Shortlisted Genres
The three genres that I have considered using are as follows:
- Sci-Fi
- Action
- Comedy
The reason I have chosen Sci-Fi is due to the fact that you can use your imagination to make the film as interesting, enjoyable. Sci-fi tends to be fictional, therefore you can add things that do not exist and this will make the audience intrigued into watching the film.
I have similar reasons for choosing action and comedy and this is due to the events of an action movie usually involve anti climax , thrilling moments and this can keep the audience interested in the movie. Same goes for comedy, if the audience are enjoying what they are watching and are being amused by the comedy then it will surely give them good impressions of the movie.
Genre of Our Film ; Mission 3
The genre we have chosen for our film is 'Action' due to the fact it was most preferred by everyone in our group. Also my group have decided that we will be producing a film under the action genre. This is because we believe that action films are the most enjoyable films to watch due to high tension and suspense levels. Our target audience who are aged 13-25 mostly enjoy action films, this is according to BFI statistics.
Type of title sequence for Mission 3
Our film mission 3 will have a stylised title sequence due to the fact they are more appealing and enjoyable to watch. The title sequences from real films that have influenced us are 'Kingsmen: The secret service.' and 'Johnny English'
We intend to not stick close to the conventions seen in these title sequences due to the fact they follow a very similar concept and storyline to our film.
Our Film : Mission 3
Mission 3 film

An MI5 agent is on the lookout for three new recruits for a pending mission and his job is to analyse their every move and put them under a training programme to see which recruit will succeed and be able to go ahead with the mission.
The first 2 minutes of the opening title sequence will consist of the agent collecting information about the 3 recruits and finding a way of contacting them.
From there it will trigger a flashback of the average lifestyles of the recruits. Finally it will lead to the recruits being kidnapped by his team, then their mission and objectives are then told to them from here.

Data from 2013 revealed that films released were actually watched by the target audience suited for the film such as One Direction (This is us), half the audience were aged 7-14.
Genre Preferences:

.
What are the main functions of an opening title sequence?
Indent : This is a known logo/sequence show to present a film company. This allows the film/movie to be tracked back to them and can be included in an opening to name which film company specifically.
Credits : Credits give thanks those that were involved in the making of the film which includes the actors, producers and directors.
Theme : Theme is usually established via either title, title sequence and introduction. This establishes the genre also. An example could be a superhero film.
Title: The title is one of the first thing the audience will see apart from the opening sequence, it establishes what the movie is about and also the genre.
Introduction: The opening presents characters and a brief insight into what the movie is about and begins to develop a plot/narrative.
Sound : The music and sound contributes to the opening sequences due to the fact that this can set a mood for the characters. An example of this is, if a person was lying down on screen and the sound/music was slow and high pitched, then it will allow the audience to further understand that the character is upset.
Four different types of film openings

There are four different types of film openings which are Stylised, Credits over a screen , Narrative and Discrete title sequences.
Stylised is a title sequences that relies on the editing of clips, font and text. This is what helps to set the mood and atmosphere.
Credits over a screen is a title sequence that contrasts between colour of the background and text. The colour along with the sound sets the tone.
Narrative has a voice over of a chosen person who will be judged by the audience through the tone of their voice , this gives an insight into the character and film.
Discrete title sequences is a separate clip which is shown to the audience before the film starts to establish the tone of the film.
The film Skyfall is an action/thriller film which was released in October 2012 has a credits over a screen title sequence due to the dark colours present and the contrast between the background and the text which is white. I like this title sequence because it implicitly shows the general gist of the movie and what to expect. It shows that the film will have the equilibrium-disequilibrium-equilibrium plot.
