Background information on BFI statistics:
BFI is the lead organisation for films in the UK it was founded in 1933 and is a registered charity. Now the BFI merges creativity,culture and industry role.

The UK film industry shares 11% of the global box office due to this the British film industry is a very important part of our economy, its GDP (Gross domestic product) has doubled in the past twenty years to a whopping £2.9 billion. Data from 2013 revealed that films released were watched by the target audience suited for the film such as one direction: This is us, half the audience were aged 7-14.
Genre preferences:
Animation was the most popular type of genre in 2013 in the UK with action coming in at second and comedy at third.
Audiences in the UK:
Data has revealed that the proportion of admissions for each age group have been fairly similar throughout the time period. However, age 15-24 rose significantly from 26% to 35% between 2005 and 2011.
